1. Wrap your windows with an aluminium foil

It’s advisable to keep your bedroom insulated by lining the edges of your window using an aluminium foil. By doing so, you can prevent heat from escaping through your windows.

If you have switched on the radiators throughout the day, then the foil will store the heat inside the bedroom.

Homes with a radiator attached to the external wall can also use aluminium foil as the reflective surface will prevent heat from dissipating from the crevices of your room and reflect back.

2. Get into the habit of blow-drying your bedsheets

This may sound crazy, but you can warm up your bedsheets by giving them a quick blow-dry using your hairdryer. A blast of hot air around 700 Celsius can make your bedding fluffy and toasty in less than a minute before bedtime.

3. Invest in warm bedding

It’s one of the most common ways to heat your bed. Simply, add layers of bedding to keep yourself warm. Opt for warm bedding accessories like comforters or duvets to make your bedroom winter-ready.

Make sure you choose 100% natural cotton bedsheets that will keep you warm and give you a good night’s sleep every day.

4. Insulate your windows with a bubble wrap

You may not know about this, but bubble wraps act as an excellent insulator for your windows. It helps in double glazing your windows by reducing heat loss. All you need to do is spray water onto your bedroom window and stick the bubble side down.

Bubble wrap insulation improves heat loss by 50% on single-glazed windows. You can add another layer for better insulation.

5. Open your curtains till 3 p.m.

Bedroom curtains can retain heat inside your room; thus, it’s advisable to keep it open during the day. Open the curtains and allow some sunlight in till 3 p.m.

The logic behind this is that the sun sets around 4 p.m. in winter, so you need to make the most of this natural warmth. Don’t forget to close your curtains and windows during the night.

6. Cover your hard-surface floors with thick rugs

All the bare floorboards and floors should be covered with some throw rugs. This will help to insulate your floor and keep your feet warm. It can also reduce any drafts between floorboards.

7. Move your sofa

How about spending winter sitting on your favourite seat in front of the radiator?

Actually, it’s a horrible idea.

When you move away from your radiator, you allow hot air to circulate freely. Make sure you keep your curtains or dry clothes away from the radiator. It can block warm air to circulate throughout the home.
